In 2003, a group of dedicated community leaders organized the Peninsula Community Foundation of Virginia, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization that solicits tax-deductible gifts from people in the community, invests these funds and then uses the earnings to provide grants to qualifying 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and scholarships for students.
