Operation Homefront provides emergency assistance and morale to our troops,
to the families they leave behind, and to wounded warriors when they return home.
The Peninsula Community Foundation of Virginia, Inc. supports the mission of the Hampton Roads Chapter of Operation Homefront and would like our donors and affiliated non-profits to know more about their work! Operation Homefront provides food, disaster relief, household goods, medical help and other services to military families in need. When a service member deploys, the family loses more than just a parent or partner. For National Guard and Reserve members, the family income often decreases when the service member is called up, causing families to struggle to make ends meet financially as well as keep up with the household responsibilities.
Through Operation Homefront, 87 cents of every dollar donated benefits a soldier or military family in need. Donations help support services like emergency mortgage or rent payments, home repairs, and emergency travel expenses to a wounded soldier's bedside. Other services provided include morale-boosting efforts for the troops - a "care" package, a digital photo of their child during a special event like a birthday, or arranging a cyber chat with a spouse struggling with lonliness.
During the winter holiday season, Operation Homefront hosts toy drives and other programs to help lonely families celebrate. They are also the parent organization for CinCHouse, the largest online community for military wives and women in uniform.
