Types of Funds - Virginia Peninsula Legacy Society
The Virginia Peninsula Legacy Society was established to recognize people who are planning gifts today that will provide significant benefits to our community in the future.
These gifts take the form of bequests by naming the Peninsula Community Foundation not only in a will or trust, but also in a charitable remainder trust, gifts of life insurance, or any other type of charitable planned gift. Our community is already the beneficiary of hundreds of gifts entrusted to the Community Foundation by generous people. Sometimes such gifts go unrecognized because they come at the end of the donor’s life. The Legacy Society provides a way for the Community Foundation to recognize and thank donors during their lifetimes, and to design plans for funds that result from such gifts.
Who should join?
For people who want to create a legacy beyond their lifetime, the Virginia Peninsula Legacy Society ensures donors that their charitable dollars are used in the way they intended. If you have made arrangements in your will, trust, or other deferred gift mechanism to make a gift to The Community Foundation, you are already eligible to be a member of the Virginia Peninsula Legacy Society.
Being a member of the Virginia Peninsula Legacy Society gives you the opportunity to belong to a select group of like-minded people who are committed to support the needs of our communities. Legacy Society members enjoy the company of others who care about leaving a legacy to protect and strengthen the community.
You can always remain anonymous in your philanthropy. However, Legacy Society participants are an inspiration to others to look toward the future and learn how they too can have an enduring impact on the causes they care about.
