Types of Funds - Virginia Peninsula Legacy Society
Recognizing People Today Who Are Planning Gifts That Will Impact Future Generations In Ways You May Never Have Imagined.
What is the Virginia Peninsula Legacy Society?
Society members are the visionaries who demonstrate their confidence in furthering the crucial mission of the Foundation by creating a lasting legacy beyond their lifetime through inclusion of PCF in their Will or Trust. Their gifts will make a difference in the lives of future generations.
Planned giving is important as your will is a statement of your values and reflects what is meaningful to you today. You can trust the Foundation to target your resources to have the greatest impact in your community tomorrow.
What are the benefits of participation?
Being honored by name as a member of the Virginia Peninsula Legacy Society gives you the opportunity to belong to a select group of like-minded citizens. These advocates have an enduring impact on the causes that matter, while being an inspiration to others. Your name will forever be attached to the good causes the Foundation represents.
How does it work?
Your gifts take the form of bequests by naming the Peninsula Community Foundation not only in your will or trust, but also in a charitable remainder trust, gifts of life insurance, or any other type of charitable planned gift that works for you.
Why become a member today?
Our community is already the beneficiary of hundreds of gifts entrusted to the Community Foundation. Too often, gifts go unrecognized because they come at the end of the donor’s life. The Legacy Society provides a way for the Community Foundation to honor and thank donors during their lifetimes.

Outlive Your Life
What does it mean to outlive your life by leaving a legacy through planned giving?
Max Lucado, best-selling Christian Author recently published a book titled: Outlive Your Life: You Were Made to Make a Difference. The premise of the book is that we have a choice to do things that will make an impact that outlasts us. Life is a temporary assignment, but the effects of our lives are permanent.
One way to have impact after one is gone is to leave a financial gift through one’s Will that will benefit future generations to come. The Foundation offers an easy way to accomplish this by making a commitment through their Legacy Society.
Let’s say for example that you have a special place in your heart to help distressed animals. You’re supporting local SPCA’s with financial gifts and through volunteer work. But what happens when you pass? There doesn’t have to be a void in your support. There is a way to continue your passionate support after you are gone.
All you have to do is to make a provision in your Will or Trust, called a bequest, or establish a codicil which is basically a legal addendum. It will direct your intent moving forward.
Why does doing good in this way feel good to the donor?
As Gordon Gentry, Chairman of Towne Bank-Peninsula states: “I really believe one of the organizations that best serves the future of our hometown is the Peninsula Community Foundation.” So won’t you consider offering a gift to make a difference in the lives of generations to come?
Greg Lawson, PCF Board chair adds: “We want to give something back, doing it in the form of a planned gift through our estate that will help the Foundation continue their mission long after we’re gone”.
“We’re talking about building a great community asset, the earnings of which, will serve this community for years to come,” adds Gordon.
So there it is. Pay it forward if you will. Join the Peninsula Community Foundation Legacy Society and tell the world today how you will make it a better place long after you are gone.
