Giving Back, Paying forward:
Tricia & Scott Russell

"Giving back is about acknowledging that we did not get to this point in our lives and careers alone and we wanted to invest in others the way others invested in us- family, mentors, business associates, friends and the community.”
–Scott & Tricia Russell, donors of the Scott         & Tricia Russell Family Fund
Scott and Tricia Russell have built a legacy of community involvement and philanthropy. Their commitment to giving is shaped by personal experience and inspired by the example set by their parents. Today, they actively support many organizations and those nearest and dearest to their hearts are the Boys and Girls Clubs of the VirginiaPeninsula, Fear 2 Freedom and Impact 100 Greater Peninsula.

Charles and Esther Hopkins

Hop's Place, family business for three generations.
A love for community, family, and each other. That’s what defined Charles and Jessie Hopkins, a Hampton couple married for 60 years. Charles ran the family business, Hop's Place, on Pembroke Avenue while Jessie shaped young minds as a school teacher. But their greatest legacy wasn't found in their professions—it was in the way they lived their lives.

Their generosity was a quiet, constant force. They dedicated themselves to their church, family, and friends, always finding ways to give back to the community that gave them so much. When asked about their lives, their response was always the same: “Blessed, Blessed, Blessed!” It was a phrase that embodied their deep gratitude and inspired those around them.

To honor their parents' incredible spirit, their children, Charles and Esther, established the Charles and Jessie Hopkins Charitable Fund with the Peninsula Community Foundation. Through this fund, the Hopkins family's tradition of giving back lives on, creating a ripple effect of kindness that continues to bless the community they loved so dearly.
