Charles and Esther HopkinsMore than one-hundred individuals, families and organizations have established Donor Advised Funds with the Peninsula Community Foundation. One of those families is the Hopkins family. In their memory, their children Charles and Esther established the Charles and Jessie Hopkins Charitable Fund to carry on their tradition of giving back.
Charles and Jessie Hopkins lived in Hampton and were married for 60 years. Charles worked for his family’s business, Hop's Place located on Pembroke Avenue in Hampton and Jessie was a school teacher. They dedicated their lives to their church, family, friends and community. They did not hesitate to tell others often that they were “Blessed, Blessed, Blessed!”.

"They got it immediately. We knew this is like a marriage made in heaven. You don’t need to be rich to do this, it just needs to be something you want to do." |
