With your Leadership Society membership you are making a statement of support to the Foundation. You are also demonstrating your core values to help our children, families and individuals who are marginalized and struggling.

Our mission is 100% donor-supported and we invite you to partner with us to impact the most critical needs today. Help us to make the Virginia Peninsula a better place to live, learn, work and play.

Most of the Foundation’s assets are funds we manage for organizations, families and other nonprofits. The community analysis required to uncover areas trends, communication about what is working and what is not, for example, has no funding without these generous benefactors. Their support has allowed us to not only continue but expand our transformative work in making our community a better place for all who live here.

Whiting Chisman, Jr.

From the very beginning, Whiting has been a constant at the foundation, the rudder for our boat. Whiting was one of the first underwriters of the Foundation. His experience helped guide Board decisions. He was one of our founding board members and has been involved in every major decision that has moved the Foundation forward. Whiting ‘s handprint and footprint can be found all over the nonprofit community. We thank him for his vision, his leadership, and for the time and expertise he has dedicated to our mission. His extensive contacts, and his personal and business relationships helped the Foundation grow.

For many reasons, Madonna has a special place in the hearts of the PCF team and our founding Board members. Her family has been an integral part of PCF almost from the very beginning. Her husband, Jerry Brink, was our first full time CEO. He retired after a long career with Riverside Health System. Instead of a leisurely retirement at their lake house and traveling, Jerry took on the startup of the Community Foundation. Jerry was willing to do this only because he had a partner to support him and strategize with him.  Unfortunately, we lost Jerry a few years ago. Since that time Madonna has continued to be a supporter of the Foundation that she and Jerry helped build.

Ferguson Enterprises

We work with a number of very generous organizations. The Ferguson Corporation is one of the most generous. But more than that, they have been willing to think beyond programs and look at the issues facing our communities. Ferguson partnered with the Foundation to study the homeless issue locally and fund a three-year experiment that helped bring 35 nonprofits together around this issue. The result was improved case management, improved intake, improved information sharing and significantly improved services helping get people into housing. Instead of giving to one or two homeless shelters, Fergusons investment helped every agency working in this area. Today they are again supporting a similar effort in the area of early child development. The Foundation appreciates their financial and intellectual support of us and our nonprofit partners.
