trevor J. mclaughlin memorial scholarship
The Trevor J. McLaughlin Memorial Scholarship is available to seniors at Bruton High School interested in pursuing a post-secondary career in the the STEM field of science, technology, engineering or mathematics. Trevor McLaughlin was a treasured student of the York County School Division, starting at Waller Mill Elementary, advancing to Queens Lake Middle, and culminating in his stay at Bruton High School. He grew close to his friends there as well as at New Horizons, where he pursued his passion in tinkering and working with computers. Trevor dreamed of attending a prestigious university to eventually be a video game designer or programmer.
Trevor always lit up the room with his playful and quirky personality. Whether it was in the classroom or out on the tennis court with his teammates, Trevor always kept his team in high spirits (even if it meant a little groaning along the way)! Through his dad’s connections, Trevor also worked alongside the staff at Williamsburg Event Rentals for a part-time job. He always enjoyed putting up tents in blistering hot weather and joking with the guys about the most random things. |
Trevor was also an avid member of the Crosswalk Community Church, volunteering to do the lights for the various services throughout his time there. He was always someone that they could count on to be there or fill in if someone couldn’t make it that night, making him a very dependable asset to their team.
His inquisitive mind and playful personality still holds on in the hearts of the friends and family he had in the Greater Williamsburg community. Trevor was an exceptional young man who excelled in various fields and had a wide range of interests and experiences. With his dreams of attending college, Trevor had been saving up to contribute to a college savings account. In honor of Trevor and in the spirit to help other students realize their ambitions and make the world a better place for all of us, his savings have been dedicated to establishing this scholarship fund. This scholarship has been endowed by his loving friends and family.
